The words in the database have been grouped in a systematic order; subjects which have a relation to each other are placed on one page. On that page a figure is added indicating the various terms.

Systematic
By clicking on the flag under the caption "systematically" the head index is opened in the left column. A clicks on one of the terms give subsequently a more detailed list of terms. Clicking on a more detailed term the relevant page is opened. At the left a column with terms in the source language is presented, at the right a figure is presented. By going with the mouse to the concerning location in the figure, a small window is opened with the searched term in six languages. This window disappears when the cursor is moved.

By clicking on the term in the list in the left column, this small window is opened permanently. If available additional buttons are shown, allowing you to open a more detailed figure, a video or a list with glossary terms. By clicking on the flag in the left column the source language is modified.
Behind the term in the left column you may find a symbol:
    o photograph available
    o glossary available
    o animation available

Note: This system requires that pop-ups are permitted by your browser. If these are blocked your browser communicates this; is advised to permit pop-ups for this site always.


Alphabetical
By clicking on the flag under the caption "alphabetically" in the left column an alphabet is opened. By clicking on a character, in the right screen a list of all words is opened starting with that character. This list exists of three columns. If necessary other columns can be made visible with the arrow buttons on the bottom of this page. Click on the term in the right screen opens both the context page and the small new window with the six translations.

Bilingual search
By typing in a term in the search box and selecting the correct target language an alphabetical list is generated of all terms in which contain the search term. Thus typing the word "pump" provides also "mud pump" and "pump house". In the second column the same term in the target language is presented. Click on the term in the right screen opens both the context page and the small new window with the six translations. Moreover in the last three columns numbers are presented. If here a number is mentioned, then there is a photograph, an animation or a further explanation (glossary) available. A click open the relevant screen.

Link to Dredgeline
In the small yellow translation box you find also a link to dredgeline. Dredgeline is an on-line bibliographical reference database. It provides an easy access to the vast body of knowledge existing worldwide in the fields of dredging and dredged material managements. It is funded by CEDA, IADC and VBKO, and maintained by the library of TU Delft. The English term is entered in the search box of Dredgeline, and relevant references are shown. Sometimes some manual adaptation of the contents of the search box in Dredgeline is needed, but Dredgeline is automatically asking for that. (eg. when one translated the German California Saugkopf, the English transcription is: "California Draghead (US: California drag)".  Dregline gives then no results. But after removal of the part "(US: California drag)", Dredgeline gives two hits.
Note: Newer versions of Mozilla try to open dredgeline into the small yellow box, which is not practical. This bug is known, and will be solved in the near future.
